An AI Poetry machine that turns portraits into poems
The Poem Booth is an AI-powered poetry machine. It generates beautiful poems based on photos taken on the spot, responding to the scene the photo captures. The poems of the current version are tailored and tuned by Maarten Inghels, a Belgian poet.
The initiative seeks to find innovative ways to broaden access to local writers and motivate more people to engage with reading and writing. To do this, the booth leverages the existing body of work and input from writers coupled with advanced language models such as ChatGPT.

A personal poem for everyone
Each poem of the Poem Booth is unique. After the button is pressed and the photo is taken, the Poem Booth analyses the picture and uses the results to write a poem with the use of ChatGPT. For every photo, this AI Model writes a new and unique poem.
Celebrate your local culture and poetry in your preferred language
The Poem Booth can be told to use the command of a local writer or expert in poetry, making sure that the poetry resonate in your language but also adapts to the place and style.
An option is available so it’s possible to switch between styles, languages or both.

Amplifying poetry and the written word using AI
Is AI going to replace writers or can it be a useful tool? VOUW is exploring if AI is capable to create interesting and beautiful poetry, while also making poetry more accessible for everyone and stimulates people to read.
For the first version we collaborated with Maarten Inghels, a highly acclaimed Belgian poet, to fine-tune the output of the Poem Booth using his existing works and experience.
Art Nouveau meets AI
The initial idea of Art Nouveau was to create a style that was accessible to the public. The design should be affordable and beautiful. Unfortunately, during that time, production was too expensive, and Art Nouveau remained something for the privileged few. VOUW aims to finally bring Art Nouveau to the masses by integrating the typical Art Nouveau aesthetic into the Poem Booth design.

The Poem Booth brings the digital world into the physical world. VOUW believes physical installations bring people together and will create stronger memories than a digital equivalent. This is what we call Slowtech, technology that actively enhances human values.
