Curious street lanterns for public space
Bloomlight is an interactive light installation designed for public space. As a kinetic street lantern, it responds to passersby like an organic creature — sensing presence, bending toward you, and slowly unfurling a soft glow from its top. Part public art, part urban infrastructure, Bloomlight reimagines what a street lantern can be: curious, calming, and alive. Rooted in the philosophy of Slowtech, it uses technology not to demand attention, but to invite people to slow down and connect.
Bloomlight is designed and constructed for outdoor use. The work is water- and dustproof and tested for extreme conditions. The outer cables provide the stability, even in heavy wind. When there is a storm, the bloomlight will go into sleep mode, where it will stand straight and close it’s hood to wait till the storm is over. Bloomlight works well for individuals as well as groups. When multiple people are around Bloomlight, it will stay with the first person that it detected.

Designed and produced in Amsterdam
Bloomlight is completely designed and produced in our studio in Amsterdam. The work was made with durability and repairability in mind. All parts are easy to replace, and can be reused when disassembled. For transport, the Bloomlights can be taken apart in three main parts. Because of the modular nature of the design, the maintenance is also easy. The footprint of Bloomlight is very small which makes them easy to fit into each urban setting.
For a poetic urban environment
Bloomlight is designed with the idea of Slowtech - using technology to slow people down. Where the urban environment normally consists of purely straight lines, Bloomlight provides an alternative with organic shapes and a friendly design that only provides light when needed. With Bloomlight, the urban environment can be a place of wonder, where people can take a break and connect with the world around them.
