Elsevier Magazine: “Vriendelijke technologie”
We're excited to share that VOUW has been featured in The Dutch Elsevier Magazine's Design section, highlighting our approach to creating meaningful interactive experiences through what they call "vriendelijke technologie" (friendly technology).
The article explores our philosophy of "slowtech" - a design principle that prioritizes refined mechanics that invite contemplation and engagement rather than quick digital consumption. As quoted in the piece, our work embodies technology that is beautiful and encourages people to pause and pay attention.
The feature showcases several of our installations, including City Gazing and references our focus on creating experiences that bring people together through thoughtful interaction design. The article emphasizes how our work stands in contrast to typical fast-paced digital interfaces, instead offering what they describe as technology that is "niet eng-mechanisch, maar heel vloeiend" (not intimidatingly mechanical, but very fluid).
It's wonderful to see our mission of creating human-centered interactive art installations recognized in this way, particularly our commitment to designing technology that enhances rather than overwhelms human connection and contemplation.
