AI portraits that still look like you

AI portraits that still look like you

Most event photos are forgotten before the event is over. Generic AI portraits may look spectacular, but often barely resemble the person in them.

Portrait Booth, the visual edition of Poem Booth, is built differently. It places each guest inside a visual world created for your event, while keeping them recognisable as themselves. The result is personal enough to print, share and talk about.

Here is what is new.

Justus & Mingus, Founding Partners of VOUW

Custom styles built around your event

Portrait Booth can be shaped around the visual world of an event, brand, artist or campaign.

Guests can appear as a character from a children's picture book, a painterly portrait, a 3D animation, a fashion editorial, a sports icon, a historical scene, or a completely custom style built for the occasion.

The important part is not the filter. It is that guests still recognise themselves. When the style fits the event, they see themselves inside its story. That is when people gather, laugh, compare and share.

Partnerships are working, so we are opening more markets

Poem Booth with Lach je Lens
Poem Booth with Lach je Lens

Our collaboration with event supplier Lach je Lens has been exactly the kind of partnership Poem Booth needs: local event expertise, strong client relationships, and a team that knows how to turn a booth into a smooth event experience.

They have already brought Poem Booth and Portrait Booth into new conversations and new client contexts. That matters, because this product works best when it is represented by people who understand their own market and our slowtech philosophy.

So we are looking for more partners.

Ideally in countries where Poem Booth is not yet locally represented: event production companies, photo experience teams, brand activation agencies, and creative studios that already serve corporate events, festivals, retail activations, museums or private celebrations.

We bring the technology, creative system and Amsterdam-built booth. Partners bring the market, sales relationships and local execution.

New: Pay Per Print Booth

We are also launching a new format: the Pay Per Print Booth.

It is built for places where there is a constant visitor flow but no one paying a fixed rental fee: museums, attractions, festivals, retail spaces, hotels, conferences, fairs and cultural venues.

The experience stays the same, only the business model is different. A visitor creates a portrait or poem. They can purchase it digitally, and then they can try at least 3 times for their unique printed portrait.

For venues, that changes the model. Instead of treating Poem Booth as an event cost, it can become a visitor experience with a revenue stream attached.

That makes it especially interesting for locations with high footfall, tourism, families, cultural programming or repeat audiences.

If you are planning an event, the question is no longer only: should we book Poem Booth?

The better question is:

  • What world do we want guests to step into?
  • Should the result be digital, printed, or both?
  • Is this a one-day event, or could it become a recurring visitor experience?

If you are working on an event, venue or partnership where this could fit, we will help you find the right format. Contact Justus at contact@poembooth.com.

A portrait worth putting in the post

Lina & Lot portrait card
Lina & Lot portrait card

Some images deserve more than a place in the camera roll.

Inspired by Portrait Booth, our sister company Convince has launched Lina & Lot: a simple way to turn a favorite photo into a one-off portrait card for someone you love.

Upload a photo, choose a visual style and write your message. Lina & Lot creates the portrait, prints the card and posts it the next working day. The card, envelope and shipping are included.

It works for birthdays, holidays, thank-yous or the small occasions that do not need a calendar reminder. Instead of sending another message that disappears in a chat, you send someone a physical surprise made specifically for them.

Try it and make your card (€7,95 in NL)

Things that inspired us this month

💿 The Criterion Closet. Vibe coding is making websites weird and fun again. Wander through a 3D DVD closet and pull films from the shelves. Underneath the playfulness, the SEO is more thoughtful than it looks: proper metadata, Open Graph, structured data and a crawlable list view, although no sitemap yet.

🔤 Endangered Alphabets. Eighty-five percent of the world's alphabets are endangered. This project preserves writing systems through carvings, education and art, treating letters as living culture rather than dead data.

📜 E-codices. A virtual library of Switzerland's medieval manuscripts. Illuminated pages, marginalia and centuries of patient human work, now available to browse without an appointment or white gloves.

🎧 Radio Aporee Maps. A world map made of field recordings. Click anywhere and hear the place instead of reading another list of recommendations. Geography becomes something you listen to.

🗺️ The David Rumsey Map Collection. Nearly 150,000 maps and images, from celestial charts to propaganda maps. An internet rabbit hole for anyone who thinks maps describe not only where we are, but how we imagine the world.

📔 The Diary Index. A sprawling directory of digitised personal diaries held by libraries and archives around the world. History becomes much stranger and more human when nobody is writing for an audience.

🚆 Why choose a ten-hour train over a two-hour flight? Psychology suggests that control, predictability and uninterrupted time can make slow travel feel easier than fast travel. Sometimes taking longer is precisely the point.

🕺 We want to be able to dance like this. No analysis. Just ambition.
