VOUW returned to Vivid Sydney 2024 for their second appearance at the festival, following the previous year's successful City Gazing and Bloomlight installations. This year they debuted two interactive installations that drew significant visitor engagement.
Chairwave: Connecting People at Waterman's Cove
The Chairwave installation consisted of 15 interactive chairs positioned at Waterman's Cove with water views. The installation proved particularly appealing to children and frequently had all seats occupied, creating spontaneous conversations and joyful interactions among visitors.
Poem Booth: Creativity and Joy
Three Poem Booths were displayed outdoors for the first time during the festival. The booths generated "23,541 poems during the festival, averaging 1,000 poems a day." Visitors enthusiastically participated, queuing up to receive personalized, humorous poems while taking group photos.
Future Prospects
The festival installations successfully withstood challenging weather conditions. VOUW plans to expand the Chairwave and Poem Booth experiences to additional cities worldwide, continuing their mission centered on "slowtech and fostering real-world connections."
