Lunch

Lunch is included when working at VOUW. We typically break for lunch around 13:00 for 30 minutes, though this may vary depending on the day.

Please wash your hands before lunch and inform us of any dietary requirements or allergies.

You're welcome to help yourself to food available in the kitchen. Just check before taking special treats (e.g., fancy chocolates).
One or two loaves of bread are kept in the wooden bread box. Extra bread is stored in the freezer.

Grocery Guidelines

Each week, one team member is responsible for doing the groceries. You’ll receive a studio bank card for this.

  • Buy for multiple days—ideally a full week.

  • Groceries must be bought at Lidl, unless something essential is not available there.

  • If an item runs out, add it to the Microsoft To Do list.

  • Always take a photo of the receipt, email it via the QR code on the fridge, and hand the physical receipt to someone from management.

  • You can suggest items, but they must be vegetarian and non-perishable.

  • Meat or fish may be brought from home but must be paid for personally.

The following items may also be purchased, but are not part of this list:

  • 🧼 Cleaning products

  • 🧻 Toilet paper

  • 🩹 Care/first aid (band-aids, soap, etc.)

These are considered general studio expenses and are handled separately.

Kitchen

The kitchen is a shared space, so please take care of it and keep it tidy.

Feel free to use the coffee machine whenever you need a boost. If the coffee beans run out, refill them from the cabinet next to the oven.

At the end of the day, the last person to leave is responsible for turning on the dishwasher. Once the washing cycle is complete, please take the initiative to unload the dishwasher, so it’s ready for the next use.

Toilet

Keeping the toilet clean is everyone’s responsibility. Please follow these guidelines to ensure a clean and pleasant space for all:

  • For men, please always sit down when using the toilet. This helps maintain cleanliness and makes it easier for everyone.

  • Cleaning supplies are stored next to the sink near the toilet area. If you notice the toilet needs attention between scheduled cleanings, please take the initiative to tidy up.

Trash

Trash Disposal

We practice waste separation to support recycling efforts. For general waste and cardboard there are two Press Waste containers outside. The key for these containers is hanging in the cabinet (on the right, above eye level) next to the entrance of the toilets.

Please ensure you use the correct bin for each type of material:

Kitchen Waste: The bin next to the kitchen is strictly for kitchen-related waste, including food and organic materials.
Paper/Cardboard: Use the large dark gray bin for all paper and cardboard waste.
Metal Waste: In the metal workshop, dispose of metal scraps in the light gray bin designated for metal.
Wood Waste: The small light gray bin or the large dark grey bin in the wood workshop is for wood scraps.
Hard Plastics: A large dark gray bin at the back of the studio is available for hard plastics.
Electronic waste: The light gray bin at the soldering table is for electronic waste..
General Waste: Normal trash bins around the studio are for all other materials, excluding organic waste.
Glassware: We collect glass bottles and deposit bottles (statiegeld) next to the fridge.

Cleaning

Always keep your workspace clean. Make it a habit to sweep and tidy up after completing any task, ensuring the studio remains a pleasant and safe environment for everyone.

Packages

We receive many packages at the studio, ranging from spare parts and materials to office supplies and sample items. If you're the closest person to the door when the doorbell rings, it's helpful if you open the door and accept the delivery.

Here’s what to do when a package arrives:

  1. Check the label: If the package is addressed to VOUW, you can open it.

  2. Unpack and sort:

    • Remove the contents from the box and place them clearly visible on the white table near the workshop.

    • If it's something you don’t recognize, leave a note or mention it in the group chat.

  3. Throw away packaging:

    • Cardboard boxes and paper go in the paper bin.

    • Plastic inside packaging can go in the general waste.

    • Any invoices included in the box can usually be thrown away, unless they are clearly marked as important.

  4. Keep it tidy: Always try to leave the unpacking area clean and organized.

Let’s keep the flow of materials smooth and the space clear for everyone.
